While a lot of photographers put their cameras away during rainy weather it is often one of the best times to take landscape photos; especially when there are showers. Between rain showers there is often amazing light that is only there for fleeting moments which are truly magical to see and photograph. These dynamic lighting conditions can help you to create amazing photographs if you are out and prepared. In between the magical light moments there is a perfect opportunity to capture images full of mood and atmosphere.
As a landscape photographer I have now started to embrace rainy days, and often head out with my umbrella to protect my camera. (Thankfully the 5D Mark 2 is weather proof to some extent too). I have found that catching these fleeting moments along with moody scenes is really satisfying but often a challenge; but this makes it more fun right?
