Nun’s Cross Farm, Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park

by David Gibbeson

I have been meaning to go to Nun’s Cross Farm on Dartmoor National Park for ages; especially after seeing other people post great photos of it. I quite like this photo because the sun blessed me as I arrived at the old farmhouse, breaking from the cover of the clouds for about 10 minutes just before it dipped behind the hill.

A great composition in the evening light

I like how the house is just going into the shadow but the light is highlighting the moorlands beyond. This is pretty much a standard composition for photos taken here but it was one I didn’t have in my library and it is a great composition; especially during the evening light.

I went there this afternoon hoping that the weather forecast was relatively accurate. It kept spitting with rain during my 50 odd mile drive there. I wish I could have spent more time there, but maybe next time!
