A View from Great Staple Tor

Dartmoor National Park

by David Gibbeson

This was one of the last photos of Great Staple Tor that I took on this outing to Dartmoor. I liked the view as I was contemplating the walk back to the car. You can see Tavistock in the distance. I think it is sometimes easy to mistake the tor for being quite small in photographs because of the lack of reference for scale.

I would have liked to have taken this photo from a few steps to the left but other photographers were experimenting with light painting on the other set of rocks, although I do have another photo of the tor with them at work! That photo really gives a sense of the actual size of Great Staple Tor. I might post it during the week as I can’t go out with my camera now until Saturday.
