A Damaged Landscape

Exmoor National Park

by David Gibbeson

Exmoor ponies graze on moorland recently damaged by fire. One of the things I like about this composition is the colour of the freshly growing grass. I like how it contrasts against the charred gorse plants. Due to the low angle of the sun, I was able to highlight the top half of the image with the golden, evening light. Illuminated by the sun, the top half of the gorse almost looks alive and vibrant.

I like this image. However, it is a shame to see our moorland damaged by wildfires, especially if they can be prevented.
